Look At Me Living In My Food Addiction

Me Living In My Food Addiction

Does this fiber make my butt look fat?

Have you ever wondered if you can make your dream come true?

Sometimes I look at this problem I have with food: always thinking about it; eating at all the wrong times and doing anything I can to sabotage my own success, and I wonder if it is even possible to get this obsession under control. Living with food addiction sucks.

Period.

I wonder about such things as: how much food a persons stomach could hold in one sitting? What does tons of sugar do to your system when you eat a 10 tablespoons? Is my stomach an endless, bottomless pit because I never seem to get full from eating?

Then I turn to thoughts of ice cream with chocolate syrup – straight chocolate – grilled cheese sandwiches – peanut butter by the spoonful. I dream of sugar – salt – carbs – yummy- yummy – yummy – more – more – more. It’s exhausting being a food addict.

Celebrity chefs tell me to sneak more fiber into my diet to cure my addiction to the wrong kinds of food. Fiber is suppose to be the way to control the cravings and keep me feeling full.

They recommend the following:

  • Pick whole-grain cereals. Then add blueberries, cranberries, and almonds to up the flavor and fiber.
  • Fiber up flap jacks. Substitute regular flour with whole grain (like oat flour) in pancakes and waffles. Add some Benefiber or some type of fiber powder.
  • Get brown rice instead of white.

According to Brenda Watson, a New York Times best-selling author and authority on optimum nutrition and digestion states that we are suppose to have at least 35 grams of fiber a day.

35 grams of fiber is suppose to help us by:

  • Controlling hunger by acting as a natural appetite suppressant as it takes up a large volume in the stomach and has no calories.
  • Prolonging the effect of the hormone Cholecystokinin to make us feel full longer.
  • Slowing the conversion of carbohydrates to sugar which allows glucose to be used efficiently by the body.
  • Eliminating calories we have already eaten which means that for every gram of fiber we eat we can eliminate 7 calories. (FYI this is potty talk).
  • Increasing energy and reduce immune system stress.

Am I ready to try this approach next? I don’t know. 35 grams of fiber is a lot of fiber.

I might be living in the bathroom. I certainly didn’t dream that.

Each new day I wonder if today will be the day I wake up and conquer this food addiction of mine. At night, as I fall asleep I wonder if I will once again I wake up feeling like . . .

The big fat cow?

How do you fight off your food urges? How do you feel full? Or is all this just me?

Fighting off urges is never ending. I’m on a blueberry kick. They’re small and easy to snack on. But getting back on track after a vacation is really hard!! Eating a lot of fiber does a number on my system if you know what I mean.
