Who Else Is Finally Sick Of Halloween Candy?
I can’t believe these words are comin’ outta of mah mouth, but . . .
I’M SICK OF CHOCOLATE.
Too bad the feeling doesn’t last long.
I’ll give it a few days.
My poor daughter and her candy. She tried her hardest to protect her Halloween stash. But having all that chocolate in the house felt like a free candy store.
All you can eat!
My oldest daughter didn’t trick or treat this year so she was trying to steal some. Even my husband, who never eats chocolate, was in on the action. He ate three of her giant candy bars that she was saving for last.
She was proud of those bars because she knew which houses gave out the big ones and made sure that we found them all.

I felt so sorry for her that I bought some more from the store to refill her stash.
Now it’s finally gone.
Thank goodness.
And I feel sick!
This is why I can’t have ice-cream, cake, cookies, or chips in the house. I’d be 100 pounds overweight instead of my thirty.
Which reminds me. I have 30 pounds to lose again. What happened to my healthy lifestyle dream? Why did it take a back burner? This is such a big part of my dream, to be healthy and eat right.
I’m so mad.
Why do we do this to ourselves?
Till next week, (without chocolate)
(Kim has already accomplished her first big dream by traveling to New York with her teenage daughter June of 2009. She lost 20 pounds and overcame her intense dislike (do we say fear?) of flying to accomplish that dream. She rotated off the blog in February 2010, but still hangs out with 8 Women Dream. You can find her in the comments section)

We are lucky. Brian didn’t go trick or treating this year and he and his friends only wanted these crazy apple suckers and rice krispies treats. There was nothing left the next day. No candy.
Yippie.
But I keep frozen 90% dark chocolate in my re-fridge, which everyone knows is mine and when the craving is bad, I break off a small piece and suck on it for 20 minutes. this takes away any craving I have for candy.
Thank God . . .
I purposely bought stuff to hand out that I wouldn’t eat like Jolly Ranchers and bubble gum. I had to buy ONE Reeces Pumpkin for me…Brian didn’t go out for candy so maybe as they get older it gets easier to avoid the stash.

I can have sweets, just not salty and carby things like chips and pasta, in the house. Bummer! I feel for ya~
Halloween candy, yes. It’s not that good anyway. Chocolate? Never!
I try not to have sweets in the house because it is a problem for me, but there doesn’t seem to be anything I can do about the donuts they have every day at work. Or the candy the guy across from me keeps putting up right where I have to walk by it. I really do think I would do better with my eating if we could get the junk food out of the office.
Good ideas with the chocolate Catherine. I wonder if I could control myself to little pieces… You and Remy are lucky to have no more trick or treating!
Rachel, yes it’s true about Halloween candy. I never touched the candy, only the chocolate. It would be hard to have junk food at the office. So easy to eat the wrong things when it’s right in your face!
Thank you so much…for confirming that I am not the only one out there who is crazy for chocolate.

Crazy for chocolate, checking in here
I pop two dark pieces of dark chocolate a day… It’s like taking a vitamin for me.
I have adopted my mom’s habit, which is exactly this… two little pieces of some kind of chocolate (think the little Dove individually wrapped ones with messages inside!) per day.
This way I can have chocolate in my house and know that I won’t eat too much.
However. I don’t buy chips, cookies, baked goods, ice cream. Unless it’s for a party. I *would* sometimes be tempted to eat them… and I just really love how I FEEL when I am eating healthy (how I look is a bonus of course too when eating healthy… but I just hate how I feel after eating tons of sugar or junk!).
My trick is to stock my fridge and pantry JUST with healthy stuff – veggies, fruit, legumes, whole grain breads.
Of course I don’t have kids yet and I realize that can change the pantry equation somewhat! Will tackle that when I get there…
p.s. and Kim do remember to do the healthy habits just for YOU – so you feel good. Take good care of you. You are SO worth it!!! (and reward yourself for the healthy days, forgive yourself for the slips-up – eating and being healthy is a lifelong journey. One step and day at a time!).
I wake up in the middle of the night dreaming of ice cream so I can’t help you here!
Lisa, the chocolate is a good trick, and it has to be dark because I would get too wired eating too much of it. I have to remember that being good to myself doesn’t mean eating whatever I want, even though I LOVE food.
Teeco, you’re too funny!
Ahh… chocolate. My downfall is anything that resembles cake, chocolate or vanilla. I missed the candy influx this year – the teenager didn’t get out there either.
