"Speaking out is a brave thing to do...."

Amen, Rachel, and Veronica, kudos to you for being willing to share this with all of us. Definitely we all have the "adult masks" we wear sometimes, yet it is our vulnerability - our humanity - that allows others to get closer to us, that allows for the possibility of real intimacy in our lives.

And we ALL need support sometimes and a "dream team" to live the big dreams... We are sooo lucky to have this group (and everyone who is a part of this growing community on the blog forum...)

I like flipping the question you asked sometimes Veronica - rather than asking "What am I afraid of?" and possibly getting stuck there, why not ask, "What would I do if I were not afraid?" and just free associate... Write down whatever comes to mind!!!

I have done this and find it SO freeing... My dreams just pour it. It's like my subconscious mind is bypassing the fear, and going straight to the passion.

We all deserve to live our passions... Let us know how we can help you live yours!

Hugs,
Lisa

There really is a lot of pressure on us to be positive, seem happy, confident, successful. Otherwise people won't like us. No one wants to be a whiner, or a loser, because we all know no one wants to be around whiners and losers. So we do this thing -- pretend to be happier, better than we are. Or if we can't do it, we withdraw, which, of course, makes everything worse.

Yes, we all wear masks. But you seem to be a pretty open person. That's a good thing! Have fun in Yosemite!

I don't know many things, but I do know a nice person when I meet them. You are a nice person Veronica who writes good posts.

I agree with Catherine, everyone has masks. It is what protects us from being hurt.
