Little Known Ways To Achieve Your Dream With Jack Canfield and Goal Setting
Saturday night I fell into bed late into the night after working on a Facebook guide for a training class Heather is leading on Wednesday of this week.
I am not a big believer in TV in the bedroom, but because my living room is so often filled with teenagers these days, I now have a small one that sits on a dresser in the corner of my room.
The teenagers were particularly loud with their video games and their late night Saturday TV, so I decided to turn on PBS out of San Francisco on channel 9 to drown out their sounds.
If that is ever possible with teenagers.
Ohh God – I sound just like my mother.
As I turned to channel 9, I just happened to catch the beginning of a Best of PBS airing of Jack Canfield. I haven’t seen this particular show so I laid back to watch with interest. The teenage sounds faded into the background, as I began to laugh aloud when his talk turned to goal setting, which is something 8 Women Dream just got through doing for 2010.
I wasn’t exactly popular when I suggested it to the group.
I want to get the DVD of this Jack Canfield program and I highly recommend it for those of you having trouble with your dream goals. He offers some sound advise on how to get from here to there (with there being a better place).
The Law of Attraction has come under fire ever since the James Ray catastrophe with the sweat lodge and deaths in Arizona, so just mentioning the phrase can bring on a lot of controversy, but I have always liked what Jack Canfield has to say.
So don’t shoot me.
Here’s a video portion of the show I watched Saturday night where he talks about goal setting -
He also offers some free stuff on his Success Principles website where he has a FREE one year planning guide for goal setting.
By the way, I do have 150 lifetime goals written down in my paper journal that I carry with me wherever I go. Maybe someday I will share them with you.
In the meantime I am trying to decide where I should update my dream status each week of getting this group on TV, getting this blog to the top 100 websites in the world and writing about what the experience was like.
Sometimes I can’t believe I am actually doing this – every day.
Maybe I should write more on Sunday nights, and just include the videos along with any Inspirational blog awards sprinkled within my own personal observations.
I love this current group of women we have in 8 Women Dream. It’s really the perfect blend of different personalities. We have our next meeting Tuesday night.
We get to discuss our goals.
I hope they don’t throw tomatoes at me.
Keep dreaming -
(Catherine’s dream is to be a motivator and published writer. She is testing her theories on motivation with this blog and the seven other women who have volunteered to be a part of her dream project. Catherine also writes about her life as a mom at the blog A Week In The Life Of A Redhead. Someday, she would also like to be invited to speak at TED. Catherine usually writes the weekly motivation posts which are published late Sunday evenings for the following week and sometimes she sneaks in her own post too – she is the 8th one out)

Hey I like that your comment posted twice. It looks like someone actually read my post!
That’s a lot of goals! I have a hard time thinking of 2. See you Tuesday. I’ll bring my tomatoes.
Cath I LOVE that you are making it possible for us to all live out our dreams here together… and holding us accountable by setting concrete goals. And I LOVE it that you have the 150 life goals in a notebook you carry everywhere with you!
There is such magic in writing down our goals, I swear it… Most of the biggest dreams I’ve lived out in my life so far happened *after* I wrote them down on paper. Yes, I was in action, yes I took some steps toward my dreams… but often things came to me in unexpected ways – synchronicity!
Like this blog. ; I had written down a personal goal of blogging weekly and creating a readership of 250,000 readers annually… and had NO IDEA how to go about creating that readership. Nor did I quite have the discipline apparently to blog weekly without being held accountable for it.
Then I stumbled onto the ad for this blog (that you were seeking a “fun, fearless female writer”!) and VOILA! – applied, made it on, here I am.
I feel SO lucky to be a part of this and also know (believe, have seen it!) that life DOES reward us for dreaming big and for taking action toward those dreams.
Here’s to getting us on TV and on that list of Top 100 blogs globally – I’m on board!
Let’s do it!
I think you will do amazing things with this group and all those 150 goals will be accomplished in your lifetime.
Hey you didn’t throw tomatoes, but then you accessed the meeting via phone!
It was a great meeting and everyone is doing so well on their goals.
Thanks for your comments everyone!
I stumbled on to your blog – and so far, I LOVE it! Thank you for beginning this!
Jack Canfield rocks! This video is a great example of his work as well as an example of what you are trying to do for all of us. I see you standing on a stage encouraging people to get motivated to go after their dreams!
I am going to buy this DVD and play it in the office when we are in front of the big screen. . .
Thank you all for your great comments!
Now if you could just get Brian to give up on the teenage negativity, you could write a how to book for parents of teenagers and make a million dollars!
Lock him in his room until he is 18 is a good start.
