As I’m writing my last post for January, I realized one twelfth of the year is already completed – and I panicked!
Feeling scared about any lack of progress, I spent about 10 minutes thinking and jotting down what I’ve done in the past 27 days.
My Photography Goals
- I mapped out a tentative 6 month schedule for my Meetup Photography Group
- Finally named my photography business, “Studio 1G” – bought the domain name for my future website and bought the business license.
- Signed on as one of 50 artists to participate in the North Bay Art Fair in April (gulp)
- Placed images in local doctors offices, and made arrangements for quarterly showings at the local salon where I’ve been before.
- Attended 2 HS sporting events, and have continued my working relationship with Varsity Pix. All profit proceeds go to the school.
- I’ve researched 2 possible grants as funding to underwrite my 2010 journey with 8 Women Dream and those conversations are in process
I’m finding out quickly that sometimes, all you have to do is ask, and people actually respond. Awesome!
My Personal Commitment Goals
- I’ve committed to the practice of better communication, and for the most part, I’ve found that phone is much more time efficient than email.
- I’ve also kept the ‘lines’ of communication open with ex colleagues and clients, hoping to solidify some projects to collaborate on in 2010. I am allowing myself to live in the unknown with those outcomes and it’s hard, humbling and embarrassing, but I’m doing it anyway.
- I created a workout plan to prepare for the Bay to Breakers and have not really started that. I accept that I can not ‘cram’ for health development – so it’s up to me to get going. I’ll either be able to walk it, jog it or run – or not! It’s up to me.
My Consulting Practice Goals
- Cleaned my office files out for the year and reorganized 2010
- Created a vision statement for this year through 2013
- Participated in week four of Bob Scotts’ 52 Key Business Concepts project; this week, the idea pulled was “vague will kill your business.” The work now means that I’ll be drilling down through my financials, reviewing reports and tracking progress in a way I never thought I would.
Wow, I’m crossing off alot of things.
So NOW what?
I think I’m at a point where I need to go back through all of my initial lists of goals, dreams, notes, updates, etc, and revise the to-do lists and re-affirm my priorities – because I have also figured out that the only thing keeping me from working day and night on my dreams is my body’s inability to stay awake for 24 hours.
And that isn’t the right habit for me to develop.
Next week as I am working, I will focus on my renewed priorities, and also focus on a word I rarely use: leverage.
Thank you to everyone – I feel your support and creativity and love.
It’s working!
Until next photo,
Rem
(Remy’s dream is creating opportunities for photography showings and public displays of her work and to ultimately be recognized nationally as a photographer … then the world. Remy’s post day is Friday)
DREAM GOAL: TO HAVE A GALLERY SHOWING OF HER BEST PHOTOGRAPHS and WALK/RUN THE BAY TO BREAKERS MAY 16 WITH 8 WOMEN DREAM
