Letting Go to Work On Your Fitness Dreams

Respect yourself enough to walk away - Fitness Dreams image quote
There are times on your dream journey when you have to stop of the path and look at everything you’ve been doing to get to this point.

I have been focusing on so many other things that my own fitness dreams have started to slip completely off the radar. My goal is to be an inspirational blogger to keep you on your dream path, not pull you off and torture you with the temptation of pastries!

Here’s a little background. I work a full time job, and help my husband with his business. On top of that I love coaching boot camp group training sessions part time. Things shifted when the part time doubled about 9 months ago. I rolled with it because I love what I do.

There is nothing more rewarding than watching someone gain strength and fitness dreams. To share the excitement of their weight loss, jumping up and down as excited as they are when they buy that smaller pair of jeans.

I’ve connected with some amazing people and been able to watch so many reach and exceed their goals. This is a fact that a lot of fitness clients don’t believe – they motivate me!

Change is good. Saying goodbye is hard.

I changed my day job at the first of the year which meant a change in cities I work, and change in gyms. It let me coach at a new location which made my commute super early and fast. Adding more evening coaching to that made for very long days.

Good news, missed all the traffic. Bad news, I couldn’t get all my workouts in.

It’s already through the first quarter of 2015 and I took a second to look at the details on my to do list. Updating my Fitness Challenge Online web site that has been on the list for a year? Time to manage the marketing for my husband to help boost his business? Hard to do when you’re working 14 hours a day.

It was time to take something off my plate.

Do you know where your priorities are?

I though I had my priorities in check. Family, work, coaching, fitness dreams.

Stepping off the dream path I had to put a few facts into harsh light:

  • Realizing I have not been training for a competition of my own for almost a year
  • I’ve ignored own fitness dream to help others find fitness that works for their lives
  • I’ve put my husbands business promotion on the back burner

Reality checks can be painful at times, and this was one of the painful ones. Something had to go.

Sharp focus can mean a dream boost

I’m starting the transition away from coaching with a small getaway. I’m calling it a vacation as I piggy back on a business conference trip with my husband. It is as close to an anniversary trip we will get in the last decade. It may not be on the continent I prefer, but I am looking forward to the unexpected non-working/down time to revisit what my big goals are.

You’ve heard every dreamer here go through shifts in their dreams. Everything from events that derail us to challenges that we didn’t expect. Our fearless 8 Women Dream leader Catherine has some amazing resources to make sure you are keeping on track with your dream goals.
