Hello my Thankful Thursday dreamers!
One of the most common questions I get when empowering women is why I use gratitude as part of the dream process.
Why gratitude? Because gratitude is the easiest first step we can take in accepting ourselves as we are right now in this moment and to see what is already working in our lives to give us the confidence to make needed changes so our dreams have a chance of coming true.
Gratitude begins the journey.
If you don’t know what your life purpose is–use gratitude to find it! Every time you find yourself doing something where you lose all sense of time, where you feel a surge of energy after, and when you find yourself smiling for no reason–be grateful for these moments and note them in your gratitude journal.
Over time, this gratitude process will help you see when you are living your life on purpose.
If you feel that your dream is stuck and you don’t know which step to take next–use gratitude to light your way out. Become grateful for the experience of being stuck. Be thankful for the lesson it is teaching you and be grateful for the answers that are coming to you as fast as they can.
You will find that you worry less about being stuck which frees up energy to shift your focus in a new direction. Just trust that the answer will come.
Gratitude can be used throughout your entire dream journey to ground you and keep you in the present moment.
The best part of working on your dreams is the journey itself and once you’ve made your dreams come true, you will be grateful that you took time along the way to appreciate each step and spent time seeing the good as it happened instead of worrying or catastrophizing about what could have gone wrong.
But I think the biggest way gratitude helps empower you is that gratitude can give you control over your emotions so that you can use them to draw into your life more of the circumstances that align with your success.
All too often we let external forces trip up our dedication to what it is that we want out of life. We let silly arguments with friends, things strangers say, comments on Facebook, remarks from relatives hijack our emotions and turn our focus towards negative thinking which then shifts our energy into doing time-wasting tasks instead of working on what we love.
Gratitude allows for a separation from negativity.
It’s really easy to get caught up in other people’s dramas and to be a successful dreamer you have to let go of being a participant in someone else’s dramatic stage play. You have to be able to step back and see how going down that road will only lead to a dead-end and that you must turn your attention to what you can do about that dream bucket list you have sitting by your bed. Gratitude can bring you back to the present, reset your mood and turn you towards doing something positive for yourself.
And most of all, gratitude can help you when you are jealous of others success, or find yourself spending time being overly judgmental of others. There is no real power in doing this and spending time living by comparisons to others is such a negative place to reside. You have to let this habit go so you can only focus on what it is that you need to do with this one precious life you’ve been given.
Be grateful for the success of others because what you put out into the world is what comes back to you.
Be grateful where you are on your journey. It will give you the strength to carry on.
Recognize that gratitude is its own form of empowerment. You can choose how to use it in your life.
