I am writing this post after working a thirteen hour day at the Tiburon Art Festival. Since I have managed to delete the last twenty sentences I wrote, I am now  forging ahead.  Please excuse any sentence blunders since my brain feels like mashed potatoes and my bed is calling to me.  No sales today but I have one more day to try. This path to becoming a successful International Artist is challenging!

I have been riding the emotional roller coaster the past two weeks and have been working really hard not to over react.  My brain has been sending me negative zingers and I am finding myself emotionally wanted to react to little situations that do not deserve the energy.

These are some of the ways I avoid over reacting:

1.  Take a deep breath

2. Remind myself that the emotion I am feeling is temporary

3.  Think about the repercussions of reacting when I do not feel in calm

4.  Allow myself to revisit the situation in the future if I feel it warrants it. (This means that if a week or two passes  and I am still having strong emotions towards the situation then it is time to talk about it).

5.  Take another deep breath

P.S.   If all else fails eat chocolate.

(Wendy’s dream is still to become a influential international artist, but she left 8 Women Dream in March of 2010 to complete grad school.  She is still a strong supporter of 8 Women Dream and you will see her in the comments on the blog.)

Damm, wish I’d read this post yesterday ! Faced with anger, despair, hurt and frustration at the actions of someone without access to a conscious, I did the complete opposite of steps 1 – 5. But I obeyed the clause re the last resort though ! Do I score points there ???

Good advice. I need to remember those. Thanks!

Yeah, I’ll go for the chocolate too, but the other advice is ok…;)

I think the chocolate tip is the best ;-) I think your cranked out a great post for writing it while in a coma. This is preparing all of us for when things really pick up with 8 women dream. I see us not having time to really eat and becoming so skinny we almost disappear ;-) I can’t wait to see you and check in.
