What’s your dream goal this week in the Dream Big Challenge?

See the goal, feel the goal, be the goal. Sick of me yet?

This week my feat of choice for the 8 Women Dream “Dream Big” Challenge is the !goal feat. You’ve joined us on this challenge, right? Take 2 minutes, and go start your own DailyFeats account so you can participate!

I struggled with narrowing down my product launch dream this week to a tiny sliver of accomplishment. My poor little jewelry product site, For Your Adornment has been on the back burner so long it has burnt to a crisp. What could possibly be the holdup? In my case, it was the “too many ideas” syndrome.

Being in my 40’s, losing weight, going back to work, getting my son ready for college – there are just so many topics to talk about! A few months ago I had a the brilliant idea to start a brand new blog to talk about losing the weight in my 40’s and how that impacted my life, love, and family. Perfect! One more project I’d be starting from scratch.

There was just no way I could possibly find a way to work all these topics into one outlet. Right?

Being committed

I had a thought several months ago about shifting my jewelry site For Your Adornment to support additional topics. The idea popped in my head and I scribbled it on a post-it and stuck it to my desk for future reference and dust gathering.

For Your Adornment – bling, inside and out

It wasn’t amazing or perfect, but the idea of “adornment” as a concept that could apply to jewelry as well as our own well-being was coming together. I kept finding other bloggers that seamlessly incorporated their passions under one cohesive topic.

Duh. Just look here at what we are doing for 8 Women Dream.

This idea that I could highlight my jewelry, and talk about the process and struggle of losing and keeping 80+ pounds off, while still having an umbrella topic just kept rattling my brain.

I started to work through how that would work and the taglines just kept coming:

  • Be Adorned: health, beauty and fun
  • Adorn your life: Fit and over 40
  • Shiny ideas for jewelry and fitness

I didn’t say they were good. But I had to get it out of my head so I could blend all my ideas together.

Making this decision seems like it should be easy. I have a platform for the eCommerce already researched and installed. This was my post last week “Be Amazed! What One Feat Can Do For Your Big Dream” where I talked about researching your dream.

From a technical standpoint that is all I need in order to sell online. Of course, I wanted more.

What For Your Adornment is for me now:

  • Jewelry: all things for your adornment
  • Health and fitness: 80 pounds lost and keeping it off
  • Life: My 40’s, family and weird stuff that happens

Do you have the same problem when you go to take the next step in your dream? An idea may be a bit fuzzy, not crystal clear, and it stops you in your tracks. THAT was the roadblock I cleared this week.

Here is the new focus for my For Your  Adornment site:

Feeling adorned… inside and out

As soon as I committed to this decision my mind was free to think about how these topics can blend, what I can blog about and how often… that decision was the brick wall that was in my way this entire time that I was ignoring. Chipping away at the edges, trying to find my way around did absolutely no good in moving forward. I had to sit down with myself and commit.

What decision is keeping you back from your next dream goals?

Enjoy reaching your goal this week – Heather
