Have you created your positive dream habits today?
As a new user of DailyFeats, I’ve already made several of my daily feats into habits and have the badges to prove it. While digging into new feats to take on, I put on my product reviewers hat and had to find out more about how this concept to “Go Do Good” came about.
The team of DailyFeats were kind enough to offer this interview for a little behind-the-scenes look at what makes the us bring about positive change in our lives.
The concept of gaining points for doing things like weight loss or healthy habits isnít unique. What makes DailyFeats different?
DailyFeats is a community that not only motivates healthy actions but also for actions around Activism, Family and Relationships, and Finance – any positive thing you want more of in your life. Additionally, DailyFeats offers you the support of the larger community through props and also allows you to set up and have habit buddies for further motivation from others. There are many websites that work on a specific aspect of of your life- an app to track your marathon, a place to learn healthy eating habits, a website that rewards people for volunteering by offering them deals, but at DailyFeats, we are trying to become a part of your everyday life and all of your accomplishments. Every day you have to make decisions on where you spend your time and what actions you take, and we want to help you feel better, and get both, intrinsic and inherent rewards.
When did the DailyFeats website launch? How long has the app been available?
The site itself launched in early 2011 with the app a few months later.
Who do you see getting the most benefit from DailyFeats user – those looking to improve health and happiness or those looking for support in getting their money and productivity in order?
DailyFeats is really here to help everyone increase the positive action in their lives so I would say its for both. Just as people are multi-dimensional, so are the feats we offer at dailyfeats.com. For instance, I may be working on my fitness goals and sticking to a budget – with DailyFeats I donít need to split those goals up and use different tools – DailyFeats is for my whole life. We also feel itís great for people who want to keep up exercise and eating habits and use their points for donations to non profits that work to prevent cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Unless we begin to dramatically increase our preventive health measures, our countryís overall public health will decrease. While the conversation often shifts to discussions about the cost of health care practices, the more significant costs are in the long term costs of heart problems, diabetes and other health problems related to obesity. With DailyFeats, people are able to create healthy habits, and also reward themselves for their positive behavior. In the same way that many people who run marathons also support organizations, DailyFeats allows users to use their positive behavior to do good by donating their points to non-profits. Itís a win win!
The content on the DailyFeats website has a fun attitude that I was drawn to immediately. Is DailyFeats a fun place to work?
Absolutely a fun place to work. We just moved into a new office late in 2011 so now our digs match our attitudes. Our office is bright, with our favorite feats lining the walls and there’s a really wonderful energy in our home.
What is coming up for DailyFeats in 2012?
We are always working on new ways to improve Dailyfeats. We are working on some incredible new partnerships to expand our Coalition of Good, which already includes organizations like Walgreens, Cigna, ebay, Tommy Hilfiger, Monster, and Gaiam. In the next few weeks, we will be releasing a brand new iphone app and will be launching our integration with foursquare that automatically checks in feats when you visit the gym or go to the museum along with dozens of other venues.
If you haven’t already tried out the free service, I can say it has helped me keep on track and build new habits. Positive habits that help support my dream.
What is the habit you have been putting off working on?
