Who Else Wants To Help Decide My Next Dream Step?

aweekinthelifeofaredhead.com

Sometimes I stare at this white page and wonder what in the hell I am going to say about dreaming this week. I like your comments. I like how long you take to read our posts. I feel like I need to continue to get better.

I like all the stories from the 8WD bloggers and guest dreamers — great stuff. The women are talking . . . you should tell your friends to come listen. Women need to be heard on the Internet. I am passionate about it. Just ask the dreamers I nag.

Right ladies?

But . . .

I’d like your help.

I haven’t been writing on my mom blog,  A Week In The Life of a Redhead, which makes me a bad blogger. I’ve been trying to figure out what next subject should be explored on my blog. I want my teenage son to have is privacy, even though he has emphatically told me that it’s okay to write about him on A Week In the Life — I still feel he is at an age that deserves privacy . . .  and my respect.

My Mother Tweets are doing better than my site, so maybe people are clambering for more of my little momwisdoms.

One half of knowing what you want your teenager to do is knowing what you must be willing to give up before you will get them to do it.
Few things are harder to put up with by a teenager than the annoyance of a good example.
Nothing recedes like like a teenager from his mother in public.

It’s me-lite.  Yeah, and those of you who have ever heard me tell a story get that.  Maybe I should do more of it.

I don’t have much privacy myself, due to an ever increasing influx of hungry teenage boys in my home. One boy is taller than my couch.  My couch.   They take up so much space.  I should be able to bitch about the smell, but those kinds of posts grow old as fast as your ex’s dirty underwear.  Imagine trying to write in that environment.  I love them all dearly — but come on!

And yes, I acknowledge that I will miss these days once he is off on his own.

I need to reinvent A Week In The Life of a Redhead and write about something I am passionate about (besides raising my son).

Where would that leave my mom tweets?

I’m stuck.  I’m experiencing a creative block.

If I turned to the person who really started me blogging (or started me thinking about being a more serious blogger)  — Darren Rowse of Problogger, I’d now listen to his advice from How to Choose a Niche Topic for your Blog for deciding on A Week In The Life –

The approach I’ve taken to build a business around blogging has been to build multiple blogs around niche topics. I describe the reasons for this in my post One Blog Many Categories or Many Blogs? but I regularly am asked about how I choose my niche topics to blog about. In this post I’d like to outline a few questions that I tend to ask myself when considering a new topic. I hope it helps:

  1. Are You Interested in the Topic?
  2. Is the Topic Popular?
  3. Is the Topic one that is growing or shrinking?
  4. What competition is there?
  5. What is the competition neglecting?
  6. Will you have enough Content?
  7. Are there Income Streams on the Topic?
  8. Choose a Niche

Maybe this week I should work to answer these questions for A Week In The Life and post them here for your feedback.

What do you think?

Give us some choices by telling us what you are passionate about.

    • Great question – duh Catherine.

I am passionate about rest, writing a blog people like to read, mom sayings, my garden and travel. These days I travel from my chair though.

      Thanks for the suggestion Emiko.
