You Don’t Have To Be Warren Buffett To Receive Checks In The Mail

Multiple streams of income have officially started pouring in.

OK.

Admittedly it is more of a trickle, but where do you think Warren Buffett started?

Starting the Forward Motion Studios Blog 10 months ago, with massive support from Cath, had many purposes. A place to keep our clients up to date on online marketing best practices, educate interested parties on the elements of web development, and pitfalls to avoid.

A great start... keeping those checks coming!

The blog also gave us a great place to highlight our affiliate relationships with supporting companies.

As an online marketing company, we are always talking to clients about the benefits of email marketing as part of their overall plan. Highlighting our affiliate partnership with iContact was a perfect fit.

This past week, we had been discussing a few upcoming projects and their impact on my constant goal of multiple streams of income when I started sorting through the mail.

So imagine my shock when I got my first check.

It came from iContact from their partner program. Money through the mail. I love this concept. The whole experience of getting that check gelled the importance of multiple income streams.

The next day my second jewelry sales check showed up = Bonus.

We aren’t talking thousands yet, but its the start I needed to keep me on track for the next few ventures.

Sparkly jewelry profits are starting!

What is a Good Business?

One of my favorite finance gurus, Warren Buffett, has some great insights on three kinds of businesses — extraordinary ones, average ones and of course, businesses of the worst kinds.

I’ll spare you the gory details of the average and worst kinds – we see these everyday and probably don’t need any reminders after 2009.

So what are good businesses?

The best are the ones that have the opportunity to tap into multiple streams of income. Ideally, with minimal investment.

Mr. Buffett talks in detail about this opportunity in his letter to the shareholders for Berkshire Hathaway, and in this exclusive interview from Huffington Post -

What does minimal investment mean for small business?

With the projects I am working on, it’s time and energy.

We are doing the research, writing the content, and since we are a design studio, doing the layout for the presentations, and very soon, e-books.

Would it be pretty impressive to have the book printed and bound? Sure, but outside printing isn’t in our budget for this project and punching holes and spiraling binding workbooks at 1:00 am is part of the job. For this next round of expansion.

What is your 1:00 am project? Do you have something in the works to expand your product or services? Does your significant other typically have to remind you to go to bed?

Maybe this is just me . . .

Leave me your 1:00 am comments and keep those good business ideas in the works.

I have a 1:00am ebook project – that is if I could actually be awake at 1am.

So mine is more like an every Sunday afternoon ebook project . . .

Working this blog consumes the rest of that time.

    Congratulations!

    Great Article.

My side business pays my debt. It feels good when someone else pays my bills. That way my hard earn money go to me.

Side income streams are great because one will always work when another doesn’t.

You are always covered in some way!

Do you have a top comment page to showcase your finest blog commentors? And how can we get more involved in this process?

Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

The truth is, in order to be successful and create substantial income, you need a keen business sense like you obviously have, and you need to invest money, blood, sweat, tears, and time. Getting rich the fast way is reserved for the few that produce extraordinary ideas (Think Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder and CEO of Facebook).

I have been blogging since 2007. For years I made a few bucks here and there with Adsense and some affiliate sells, but I wasn’t making enough to quit the day job for sure. I tried getting traffic from Adwords, SEO, Yahoo, article marketing, social sites, and even email. The problem was that I just couldn’t get enough traffic to really make anything. But maybe I should have gone with the affiliate model – I’ll have to think about that. I would love to receive bigger checks in the mail!

Real happiness is not about being immortal or driving the fanciest car. It’s about having each tiny wish come true, or having something to eat when you are hungry or having someone’s love when you need love. It’s aslo loving what you do everyday. All the money in the world cannot make you happy.

There’s a book known as “Avoid Retirement And Remain Alive”. The notion will be the simple fact that retirement has no location in current society. In the event you are able to make work pleasant by balancing it against the other points you’ll like to try and do, then you definitely can easily live like you’ve got all of the time within the globe.
