It is said that leaders exist to get things done.
I put off doing video because there was a part of me that still wanted to hide after being sick from Hashimotos disease and changing so much over the years. But at some point you just have to say f@*&!&^ it and let that crap go and move on. Oprah has to live her Hashimotos disease in front of the world – we are just talking about being public in our little slice of it.
This is me moving on/ moving forward with the 5 Dream Steps -
The Dream Exercise in 5 Steps -
- Get out three sheets of paper.
- Write 0 – 10 on the top of one sheet, 11 – 20 on the top of the 2nd and 21 – 50 (or whatever your age is today) on the third sheet.
- Place a large T on all three sheets – dividing them into two columns.
- On the left column header write This Gave Me Joy and on the right column write I Felt.
- Then sit somewhere you won’t be disturbed and list all the things you loved doing throughout your life and how they made you feel.
I walk you through this exercise and more in my ebook, Find Your Dream, but I promise you if you do just the 5 steps outlined above you will become more aware of what you need to bring back into your life.
You will also remember what makes you happy.
I didn’t memorize anything prior to filming myself, which I will do next time, so that I talk slower and my points are clearer. But I decided to go ahead and put this out there as it is – flaws and all. It brings home one of my points about dreaming and taking steps to move yourself closer to your dreams: take a risk, even if you fall on your face.
No time like the present.
Besides, one of my lectures to dreamers is that there are no overnight successes. Making your dreams come true takes practice and time spent in the Dip – the period between when you launch your dream and are still excited about it to when it comes true and you are sick of it. Because there are no “overnight successes”, watching 8 Women work on our dreams over time reveals what it is really like to show up week after week and work on a dream through the Dip.
Some don’t make it through the Dip. We’ve seen them leave the group.
What about you? Where are you in your dream? Is it still in your head? On paper? In a box in the garage? I challenge you to take my little This Gave Me Joy test and let me know what you find out about yourself.
Who knows, you might drag that dream out of the box in the garage.
